No, I’m not going to tell you about how to write more. And, of course, this is not a post about how to generate content ideas.

But this is an article about what you’re doing wrong that’s preventing you from writing more content.

Sometimes, as a beginner, we tend to have content ideas to write about. Some are even lucky that they know their niche right immediately when they start writing. But there are a lot of things that are holding them back.

And these were the things I struggled with when I started some months ago. Now, I have passed that stage.

So, to write more, these are things you need to know as a beginner;

I. Forget the Stat
Yes, the Stat. I know you don’t want to hear this. I know it’s hard not to check the Stat and refresh from time to time to see if people engage with your articles or not.

You’ll want to know how your content resonates with your audience.

But oftentimes, we think we aren't seeing enough engagement on our post which means we aren't doing well.

And this is one of the biggest mistakes most beginners make when starting out.

But the thing is, being a beginner isn't the time for you to start dashing into the Stat section to know how many views you have. It's time to produce more work. To get better at your craft.

So, for you to have the Zeal and drive to write more and not to quit, leave the Stat section.

II. Research more on content ideas
Oh yeah, I said I’m not going to talk about this, but it’s essential if you truly want to write more as a beginner. So, pardon me if I don’t stick to my words.

Being a beginner is the time to research more on the content ideas you want to put out.

And you can only do this by;

  • Reading- you can’t be a writer if you don’t read. You can’t be a great writer if you aren’t an adept reader. You need to read more. Read great books and blog posts in your niche or a different niche. Doing this will help generate ideas on what to write about.

The mantra here is to consume more to write more.

III. Engage with other writers
You can’t do it all alone. It isn’t possible. So, you need to dig more into other writers if you want to write more.

And these would be writers in your niche or writers you resonate with. Preferably, those who are 2-3 steps ahead of you and top 1%

To do this;

  • Check what they are doing differently.
  • Check the way they structure their content, the headlines, and the hook because this helps you to know how to structure yours.
  • Engage on their articles and leave a great comment

Doing this will also draw more people closer to you. This also encourages you to get going.

Wrapping up
Don't be afraid to hit the publish button because that's the reason behind your writing in the first place. And this is how people get to know more about you.
